MSC Hard Court to be rehabilitated | LABA stepping up their game
GOVERNMENT through the Office of the President has approved the contract that will see rehabilitation works done to the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court. Last week Regional Chairman Mortimer Mingo made the announcement that the sports facilities in Region Ten will be enhanced at the Mackenzie Sports Club where a $1.8M contract was awarded to A and S Contractors for the asphalting of the MSC basketball court, while the construction of a 65 feet long bleacher for spectators was awarded to Hilton Lord to the tune of $905,800.  Earlier this year the Mackenzie Sports Club Management Committee was able to complete the rehabilitation of a section of the bleachers which could now accommodate some 140 persons comfortably as it sought to improve the spectators watching of events at the main basketball court in Mackenzie, Linden. A basketball deficiency in GT - players frustrated

It appeared that the basketball fraternity in Georgetown was temporarily out of service. The sub-association had seemed dormant, while its players were starved of the opportunity to play competitively.  The Georgetown 2009/2010 season was launched last year and subassociation president Trevor Rose and his executives promised an action-packed calendar year that would surely see the sport blossoming. Months later, the association failed to even con clude its first league. The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA)’s first and third di vision leagues began in late January; eight months later, they are still to be completed. The tournaments started, stopped, resumed, and was paused. Since the knockout phase has not even commenced yet, the tournament might very well go into the 2010/2011 basketball season.

GABA striving to meet project deadline at Burnham Court - still more funding for $20M facility
The Parade Ground Municipal Basketball Court (Burnham Court) Enhancement Project is scheduled to be completed in five months, providing that the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) acquires the balance of funding for the $20 million project. Rose revealed that GABA has so far garnered $11 million for use towards completion of the project and is seeking further assistance to meet their five months deadline. “We are getting good indications and businesses are expressing their interest to sponsor the project,” Rose said when asked if progress was being made towards acquiring the remainder of the funds needed to complete  the project.
