Celluar service provider Digicel has continued its spending trend towards sports in Guyana, as over $250 000 was handed over to Wild Fire Entertainment, yesterday, towards the hosting of the inaugural Godwin McPherson Goodwill basketball tournament. The series, which will feature Guyana’s Male and Female National basketball teams against the Washington DC Jammers and South Carolina Lady All-Star respectively; is set to run from August 19 to 24 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Trinidad and Tobago-based semi-professional and professional Guyanese basketball player, Andrew ‘Mr. Dunk’ Ifill arrived yesterday morning to boost the national senior team’s chances against the formidable, Washington D.C Jammers. Ifill was expected to join the national team for their practice session yesterday evening on the Burnham Basketball Court ahead of Thursday night’s commencement of the International Basketball Series at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Andrew ‘Mr. Dunk’ Ifill arrives at the Windjammer International Hotel yesterday from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport to prepare for battle in the International Basketball Series.
