DC Jammers outclass President’s XII in Game One
In their first game against the senior national basketball team since 2007, the Washington DC Jammers basketball team outclassed the locals in Game One of the three-game series for the Godwin McPherson Memorial Trophy, Thursday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. The President’s XII went down to the visitors 73-84 in a match that satisfied the craving for basketball action within the local basketball community. Young b’ballers bound for Children of the World Camp & FIBA World Championships, Coach Ann Gordon for Hungary scholarship
The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has selected Kwakwani Secondary coach Ann Gordon for the Olympic Solidarity Scholarship in Hungary, while they will be sending Andrew Williams and Leona Mentore and coach Kirk Fraser to the World Basketball Championships in Turkey. According to GABF president David Patterson, Williams and Mentore will depart on Sunday morning to begin the journey to the FIBA World Basketball Championships from August 28th - 12th September. Patterson told Guyana Times Sport in an invited comment yesterday that the pair of athletes and coach will benefit from a coaching workshop designed for athletes under the age of 14 years. Read more
